We were proud to take part in the 3rd Annual Irish Drinks Forum, where our founder, James Mc Callan, was invited to speak about our journey to achieving carbon zero across our whiskey maturation facility. Being recognised in this way is a significant milestone for us, especially as a young and evolving business within the Irish whiskey industry.
A Proud Moment Among Industry Leaders
Sharing the stage with such respected names was an honour we do not take lightly. The lineup included representatives from Great Northern Distillery, The Boatyard Distillery, Dr. Magali Picard of Tonnellerie Demptos, and the legendary Ger Buckley of Midleton Distillery, a true master cooper whose contribution to the craft continues to shape our industry.
Having the opportunity to present alongside these innovators made the experience even more meaningful for our team.
From Feeling Like Outsiders to Finding Our Place
When we attended the very first Irish Drinks Forum three years ago, we genuinely felt a sense of imposter syndrome, a small, emerging business stepping into a room full of established industry giants.
This year, being invited to speak was both humbling and energising. It signified not only how far we’ve come but also how committed the Irish drinks community is to collaboration, innovation, and sustainability.
It was a moment of validation for the countless hours invested into our renewable energy systems, conservation efforts, and long-term sustainability strategy.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We extend our sincere gratitude to Annette Kearney, Lynn Harte, and the entire team at the BIA Innovator Campus for organising such a seamless, inspiring event. Every year, this forum brings together some of the brightest minds in Irish drinks, and this year was no exception.
From reconnecting with old friends to forging new relationships, the event was a perfect blend of community, learning, and inspiration.
Looking Ahead
At McCallan Bonded, sustainability is not a marketing phrase, it is a core part of who we are and how we operate. Being invited to speak at the Irish Drinks Forum reinforces our belief that responsible innovation will continue to shape the future of Irish whiskey.
We look forward to building on this momentum, deepening our industry connections, and contributing to a more sustainable future for whiskey maturation in Ireland.
